    I think I know where the tea kettles came from.

    In morocco it is very common to see tea kettles made from the same base materials, just a bunch of melted steel with a chrome coating probably loaded with lead.  Recycling anything and everything is a common day occurrence for moroccans.  If you ever find yourself there, be sure to bargain by going next door to see what their prices are.  Two-thirds off the asking isn't an unreasonable thing to ask.
