  • the importance of textures ..

.. is often underscored by how something is shaped, or if something is particularly bright.  on occasion, a simple sparkle can grab your attention.

what people miss most is textures and repeating patterns - the simplicity in life that creates intrigue, interest, and beauty.

  • there's something about chocolate.  when cool it's hard, not even close to pliable.  you can scratch shavings out and make powder from it.  you can even bite into it with a loud crack that rivals a nutcracker.but when it's warm, it's sweet, and coating and comforting.this shot was done with my 100mm macro again at fraiche in palo alto.  they have a large block of gourmet milk chocolate that they chip and shave as toppings for their fresh yogurt.

  • end of the tunnel

just trying out the 100mm macro finally after quite some time.  paired with the 7D it's not so bad.  though, I have to say, I really do hate the way colors look on the camera's lcd, everything always has this strange cyan tint.

  • ok, so i'll admit it..

..it's been a while since my last post.

    quite a long while.

I've been doing weddings for some time now with Auden and Lawrence.  Things feel like they're moving again.  It's a good feeling, being inspired.

    i hope you enjoyed them.

  • 5am nostalgia

Apparently now it's early enough to see the slight glimmers of morning at 5am.  When the sun just barely rises on the east side of the bay area hills, the skies turn a bright pink and orange with a back light of royal blue, it's already 5:30am.  Within moments, it's gone, faded into the gentle white and sky blue.

Passing the Charleston Slough and a fog clung Moffett Field it feels nostalgic.

Though hardly comparable, and hardly as cold, this particular morning reminded me of stepping out of the Lancaster Gate, Park Inn Hotel, in London, at 5am, around the end of December.  The day starting off below freezing blowing into my gloved hands - Seeing the sky in a still dark navy, having it melt slowly away into a bright sunburst pink and orange all the while shivering to the closest McDonald's to the tube.

London in December, I'll definitely have to do that again.

i love flying about.  one of the best parts is the scenery, then the loud noise of the engines drowns out everything - you are only left with your thoughts.

I think I know where the tea kettles came from.

In morocco it is very common to see tea kettles made from the same base materials, just a bunch of melted steel with a chrome coating probably loaded with lead.  Recycling anything and everything is a common day occurrence for moroccans.  If you ever find yourself there, be sure to bargain by going next door to see what their prices are.  Two-thirds off the asking isn't an unreasonable thing to ask.
